Performer: Big & Rich
Producer: Peter Strickland Distributor: n/a Notes: In 2004, the duo of songwriter "Big" Kenny Alphin and Lonestar ex-pat John Rich burst onto the country scene with a raucous bar-and-brew, rock-oriented brand of honky tonk. Their debut HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR went triple-platinum and spawned a memorable hit with the borderline-novelty "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)." They proved durable when sophomore record returned them to radio with a number one country smash in ballad "Lost in the Moment." The duo have fun with the greatest hits format, throwing in fan-favorite album tracks like "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big & Rich)" in with all the hits, and presenting a new song in the soulfully melancholy "The Man I Am Right Now."
Founders of Nashville songwriting collective the Muzik Mafia, Big Kenny and John Rich took Nashville by storm in the early 2000s by consciously bucking every trend that Music City held dear. Infusing their take on country music with healthy doses of hard rock, rap, and a wacky sense of humor, Big & Rich have redefined what being country and being from the South mean in the new millennium.
