Notes: JUICE, background to the 1992 gangsta movie of the same name, fits the landscape of the film, even without a single track by lead actor 2Pac. The title track, "Juice (Know the Ledge)," features some of Rakim's most scintillating and dexterous rhymes over a trademark Eric B. beat, and deservedly became one of the duo's biggest hits. The rest of the soundtrack captures a perfect snapshot of the hip-hop nation of the era, including top tracks from EPMD, Naughty By Nature, and Cypress Hill.
Rolling Stone (2/6/92, p.77) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "..hypnotic...a remarkable collage of hip-hop culture.." Entertainment Weekly (2/14/92, p.54) - "..a collection of new and old tracks by a who's who of street music...Sparkling with otherwise hard-to- find gems.." - Rating: A Option (5/29/92, p.114) - "..acts as a report on the state of hard hip-hop.." Mojo (Publisher) (6/02, p.68) - Included in Mojo's "100 Coolest Movie Soundtracks" - "...One of the '90s best hip hop collections..."
