Artist: Yukimi Nagano Producer: Liza Richardson; Lisa Cholodenko... Distributor: Relativity (Label) Notes: Photographer: Suzanne Tenner. The 17-track soundtrack for director Lisa Cholodenko's Sundance hit The Kids Are All Right offers up a nice, eclectic playlist stocked with copious amounts of indie rock (Deerhoof, MGMT, Fever Ray) and classic rock (Joni Mitchell, David Bowie, Leon Russell), as well as a little bit of R&B (Betty Wright), jazz (Gabor Szabo), and punk (X). It's a typical post-Quentin Tarantino/Wes Anderson genre-fest to be sure, but it makes for a surprisingly coherent listen, and could kick open some doors for listeners used to soundtracks saturated with Hollywood clichs like "I Will Survive" (Gloria Gaynor) and "Kung Fu Fighting" (Carl Douglas). ~ James Christopher Monger
