Performer: Various Artists
Producer: Howard Smiley (Compilation)
Distributor: Bayside Record Dist.

Notes: Featuring a dozen of the best bubblegum hits from the late '70s, this compilation makes for nice lightweight listening. Some songs, such as Parliament's dancefloor classic "Flashlight," still sound as good now as they did the first time around. Others, such as "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb, make perfect background noise at keg parties and wedding receptions. Ultra-smooth soul kings Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes each contribute a track. Then there are a handful of contributions from one-hit wonders and the "where are they now" crowd. Though not every song on this album is exactly a musical masterpiece, as a whole, it's got plenty of retro appeal and nostalgic value. ~ L. Katz
