Mobb Deep's 1995 classic, THE INFAMOUS, was that kind of album that could silence other MCs. On HELL ON EARTH, the duo continues to deliver hard-core production and vocals that rage with anger. Never smiling and always painting their lifestyle with harsh lyrics, rappers Havoc and Prodigy are still the most feared rappers east of the Mississippi. HELL ON EARTH's dark production lays the ground for both Havoc and Prodigy to catch wreck on this, their third album. Hav's in-your-face rhyme style and Pee's eerily monotonous flow bring drama to each of the 14 tracks. Visited by a wicked lineup of guest artists (including Nas, Raekwon and Method Man), Mobb Deep turn HELL ON EARTH into a lyrical battle field. Spin (1/97, p.88) - 8 (out of 10) - "...pursues retribution like Charles Bronson in the Death Wish flicks. If the subject matter is somewhat limited to this 'I'm gonna get you first, sucka' motif--well, Mobb Deep's big payback always sounds bitchin'..."

Hailing from New York City's notorious Queens Bridge projects, Prodigy and Havoc, a.k.a. Mobb Deep, took the hip-hop world by storm with the release of their second album, 1995's THE INFAMOUS. An instant classic, the album was filled with raw beats, dark hooks, and brilliantly unflinching rhymes about ghetto life that, although filled with standard gangsta rap themes, emanated from a world entirely their own. Mobb Deep continued to record into the 21st century, and remain one of rap's most respected duos.
