Reggatta Mondatta attempts to reinforce the Police's reggae roots by offering a selection of Police favorites as performed by contemporary reggae artists. Instead, it reveals that many modern-day reggae acts are as influenced by pop-reggae like the Police as they are by genuine reggae artists. Apart from a few dub and heavy dancehall tracks, much of this sounds similar to the original versions. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but on the whole, Regatta Mondatta simply doesn't provide the revelations that it should have. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
