Love Bites: More Romantic Power Ballads picks up where its predecessor left off, offering 16 more hit power ballads. Most of these cuts come from the '80s, when power ballads ruled the airwaves, and if your tastes lean toward Poison ("Every Rose Has Its Thorn"), Cinderella ("Nobody's Fool"), Starship ("Sara"), Europe ("Carrie"), Night Ranger ("Goodbye") and Mr. Big ("To Be with You"), Love Bites (which is sorely lacking the Def Leppard hit of the same name) will be your cup of tea. It could have been a bit more consistent -- given that there were so many big-hit power ballads, it's a little surprising that limpid cuts like Firehouse's "Love of a Lifetime" "are included -- but the collection remains an entertaining listen for fans of this overblown style. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
