This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. 1993 saw another addition to the long line of Motorhead compilations in ALL THE ACES. Just about every mega-decibel classic from Lemmy and company can be found here, as well as a bonus live disc of an early Motorhead-related side project, featuring guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil Taylor. For some of the all-time best British heavy metal, you can't go wrong with such mean rockers as "Ace of Spades," "(We Are) The Road Crew," "Iron Fist," "Bomber," and "Motorhead," as well as such oft-overlooked tracks as "Love Me Like a Reptile" and "No Class." The aforementioned bonus disc doesn't include any Motorhead songs, but features a few originals and good-spirited covers (Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and a pair of Eddie Cochran tunes, "Somethin' Else" and "Summertime Blues"). Perhaps the first band to provide common ground for the often-opposed musical camps of punk and metal, Motorhead are perhaps THE archetypical British metal band. Founded by ex-Hawkwind bassist Lemmy, Motorhead combines the irreverent, stripped-down, buzz-saw aspects of punk rock and the over-the-top, menacing excesses of heavy metal, together with a playfully brutal sense of humor. This multi-CD set includes many rarities, live and previously unreleased tracks, and guest appearances by admirers and fellow travelers Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, and Headgirl. Of course the "hits" are here: "Ace of Spades," "Bite The Bullet," "Overkill," and the king of rock & roll cover tunes, "Louie Louie."
After he departed Hawkwind in the mid-1970s, bassist/gravel-voiced singer Lemmy formed the hard-rocking Motorhead. Referred to by punk rockers as "the only metal band that matters," the rowdy trio was one of the leaders of the early-'80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, and an important influence on future thrash and speed metal bands.
