Instead, they're country artists covering pop/rock songs -- stylistically, the music is often a hybrid of pop/rock and country, which means they fall between outlaw country and mainstream country. In either case, it's a pretty entertaining collection, boasting such fine cuts as Charley Pride's "Mountain of Love," Waylon Jennings' "Brown Eyed Handsome Man," Juice Newton's "Hurt," Chet Atkins' "Let It Be Me," Ronnie Milsap's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," Dolly Parton & the Jordanaires' "Save the Last Dance for Me" and Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson's "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay," which make it worth its budget price. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
