Performer: Various Artists/Disney
Distributor: Universal Distribution Notes: Also available on CD and cassette in a blisterpack. Radio Disney: Kid Jams 2 collects kid-friendly pop and rock from Weird Al Yankovic, Queen, Sister Sledge, Aaron Carter, and Jason Raize. Christina Aguilera's "Reflection," Britney Spears' "Sodapop," Will Smith's "Just the Two of Us," and Lou Bega's "Disney Mambo #5 (A Little Bit Of...)" are some of the highlights from this enjoyable compilation. ~ Heather Phares RADIO DISNEY JAMS Vol. 2 features well-known songs by established pop acts, new songs from relative unknowns, classic tracks, and Disneyfied remakes of older chestnuts. "Disney Mambo #5" opens the disc, a cut that is daresay more appealing with Lou Bega singing about loveable Disney characters such as Pluto and Mickey Mouse. The appeal of the Backstreet Boys among children is uncanny and their hit power-ballad "I'll Never Break Your Heart" is a perfect match with this collection. Youngstown's unshakable "I'll Be Your Everything" will have "Inspector Gadget" fans smiling when they recognize the theme-song sample. Will Smith's reworking of "Just the Two of Us," which focuses on his loving relationship with his son, is sweet and touching. "American Pie" gets a facelift as "The Saga Begins" in Weird Al's hilarious roasting of the George Lucas franchise. The most recognizable rock songs associated with sporting events are without question Queen's "We Are the Champions" and "We Will Rock You," both of which show up here. RADIO DISNEY JAMS Vol. 2 is great, safe fun for kids of all ages; but don't be shocked if parents fall for it too.
