Performer: Various Artists/Three 6 Mafia
Engineer: DJ Paul; Juicy J; Lil Pat Producer: DJ Paul; Juicy J Distributor: RED Distribution Notes: Recorded at Hypnotize Minds Studio, Memphis, Tennessee. The presented-by Hypnotize Camp Posse album plays like a standard Three 6 Mafia album, albeit a substandard one with a broader lineup of rappers. Juicy J and DJ Paul produce all the beats, as with all Hypnotize Minds releases, so it certainly sounds like a Three 6 album. Furthermore, the rhetoric is typical for the collective, with song titles like "Azz & Tittiez," "Fie It On Up," and "Don't Make Me Kill" fairly emblematic of the agenda. The main difference is the broadened lineup of rappers, which consists of affiliates such as La Chat, Killa Klan, Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Black, and T-Rock as well as a guest appearance by Pastor Troy on "Big Mouth, Big Talk." The other difference is that the songs aren't very developed, as if J and Paul wanted to save their better ideas for the next Three 6 album while letting their Hypnotize Camp affiliates trudge through these half-hearted efforts. ~ Jason Birchmeier Three 6 Mafia's Hypnotize Camp Posse is a collection of joints for the group's collective, including Gangsta Boo, Tear Da Club Up Thugs, Killa Klan, Lil' E, Koopsta Knicca, Pastor Troy, and T-Rock, as well as Three 6 Mafia themselves. ~ Keith Farley
Vibe (3/00, p.208) - "XXX-rated and certified ridiculous!....[They] get together over wild-out, naked-in-the-castle bounce beats to let their mouths go dirtier than a year-old urinal cake...."
The Source (3/00, p.258) - "...brings nonsensical rowdiness to an all-time high....the Hypnotise Camp proudly rap about smackin' b*#$@!s up, killing people, and of course, snorting cocaine - [they] walk away with the award...for the wildest rapper[s] alive..."
