Like most of the decade-based installments in Casey Kasem's America's Top 10 series, this set has its hands full with the genre-flooded charts of 1970s pop. But while most retrospectives would include just a few hits surrounded by hit-or-miss filler, Top 10 is crammed with well-known radio favorites, and offers a nice cross-section of the decade's disparate sounds. There's bombastic album rock from Foreigner ("Feels Like the First Time") and the Guess Who ("American Woman"), light funk in the form of Rufus and Chaka Khan's "Tell Me Something Good," and perennial favorites from heavyweights like Fleetwood Mac ("Don't Stop"), and Rod Stewart ("Maggie May"). '70s soft rock is represented by Seals and Crofts' classic "Diamond Girl," as well as the rakish, blue-eyed soul of the early Hall and Oates hit "Rich Girl." The delightful oddities department is represented well by the starstream art rock of Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver," as well as Nilsson's classically melodramatic interpretation of "Without You."
