Kater's sweeping keyboard parts provide majestic expanses for Nakai's flute and eagle-bone whistle trills, which soar like birds, wind, and spirits in flight. Occasional tribal percussion and David Darling's cello add deeper, earthier hues. From the rollicking "When Worlds Collide" to the contemplative "Remember When" to the mysterious "Child's Play," the compositions are easy and open, with an improvised feel that never sounds careless. While not traditional Native American music, these spirited songs convey all the enchantment of the Western plains.
