Performer: The Moonglows (US)
Distributor: Universal Distribution Notes: The Moonglows: Bobby Lester, Alexander Graves, Prentiss Barnes, Harvey Fuqua (vocals); Billy Johnson (guitar). Producers: Leonard Chess, Phill Chess. Compilation producer: Andy McKaie. Recorded between 1954 & 1958. Includes liner notes by Joseph F. Laredo. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Personnel: Billy Friday Johnson (guitar). Liner Note Author: Joseph F. Laredo. Recording information: 10/??/1954-03/08/1958. This 12-song collection is the almost the same as the 1997 anthology Their Greatest Hits, which has all 12 of these selections plus four additional tracks. For that reason, this slightly abridged version is slightly less preferable. Still, it does hone in on their most popular 1950s Chess recordings, including the hits "Sincerely," "Most of All," "We Go Together," "When I'm With You," "See Saw," "Please Send Me Someone to Love," and "The Ten Commandments of Love." Although the packaging is on the budget side, it's a good representation of the very best of one of the era's finest R&B/doo wop vocal groups. ~ Richie Unterberger
