After becoming a father, Dan Zanes, former frontman of the 1980s college-rock act the Del Fuegos, embarked on a kid-friendly solo career, enlisting the help of fellow New York City musicians and famous friends such as Sheryl Crow and Roseanne Cash. Children's music clearly proved to be a good fit for Zanes, with the singer/guitarist issuing eight eclectic, folk-tinged albums within eight years, including 2006's Grammy-nominated CATCH THAT TRAIN! Unlike much kiddie-oriented fare, Zanes's laid-back, thoughtful tunes also easily appeal to adults, putting him in the company of fellow Brooklynites They Might Be Giants.
