To listen to sound clips, you'll need the most current version of the
Performer: Steve Miller (Guitar)
Distributor: BMG Special Products Notes: Recorded live between 1973 & 1976. The title of this CD should actually be called "Steve Miller Band Live". This cheapo BMG disc from the Encore Collection doesn't have any liner notes, making it impossible to decipher where or when these tracks were recorded. As for the quality of these live performances, they aren't bad, and credit should be given for the inclusion of early Miller material like "Going to Mexico," "Going to the Country,"and "Seasons," making this of interest to Miller fanatics. Casual listeners should avoid this and stick with his studio albums. ~ Al Campbell
The Steve Miller Band has gone through a number of chameleonic changes over the decades. Miller started out as a blues-obsessed guitarist and led his band through a series of classic dreamy psychedelic albums in the '60s. Later in the '70s, he adopted a more accessible, slightly blues-inflected pop-rock hook bonanza and hit commercial paydirt with hits such as "The Joker" and "Fly Like an Eagle". In the early '80s he briefly took on a new wave tinge--and even topped the charts with the synthy "Abracadabra"--before returning once more to his blues-rock roots.
