Distributor: Caroline Distribution Notes: Like their kindred spirit label Spiritual Life, Ibadan Records took hold of the deep house movement of the late '90s and along with likeminded labels like Naked Music redefined and made it more accessible to the markets, thereby helping to spawn innumerable chillout compilations of lesser quality. This two-disc is a collection of Ibadan's most highly revered records previously only available on vinyl, with a few extremely rare Japan-only releases thrown in for good measure. Joe Claussell's remix of Ten City's "All Loved Out" sets the tone for the duration of the showcase perfectly: smooth, jazzy house blended with inoffensive and earthy percussion and other organic instrumentation. The result is a pleasant excursion into the furthest depths of snooze house but extremely ideal for late-night after-hours excursions. ~ Rob Theakston
