Here the mood being created is blue, deep blue. Mood Indigo collects mellow and emotional tracks from the Concord archives from between 1980 and 2003. Mixing bluesy vocal tracks like Jeannie & Jimmy Cheatam's "Basket Full of Blues" and Carmen McRae's "Fine and Mellow" with intimate ballads like Kenny Burrell's beautiful "Blue in Green" and Marian McPartland's "Mood Indigo," the collection maintains a peaceful and introspective mood throughout and provides a nice soundtrack for feeling blue, modern jazz style. ~ Tim Sendra
