Performer: Original Soundtrack/Cheetah Girls
Producer: Ray "Sol Survivor" Cham Distributor: Universal Distribution Notes: Original Soundtrack/Cheetah Girls: Raven-Symon, Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, Sabrina "Dorinda" Bryan. Imagine a sonic collision between the Spice Girls, Josie & the Pussycats, and Lizzie Maguire, and you'll have a pretty accurate picture of the Cheetah Girls. The fearsome female foursome's story began with a series of books, but in due course there came a Cheetah Girls movie detailing the girls' musical adventures, and consequently this soundtrack. Like the Spice Girls, they espouse the joys of "Girl Power" with a pulsing, danceable sound that borrows from pop, hip-hop, and R&B, adding a liberal dose of post-Britney teen-pop. While several of the tracks here center around the Cheetahs, there are some other artists present as well. Sonic Chaos contributes the celebratory rap tune "C'mon" and Hope 7 offers some hard-charging, female-fronted rock in an Avril Lavigne mode for an effective change of pace.
