This three-CD box set collection contains three of Michael Bolton's most popular discs, acting close to a greatest-hits box set, but not close enough. The first disc, Timeless, and its sequel, Volume 2, are soft rock exercises paying tribute to some of Bolton's all-time favorite songs and love ballads. The overly chorused production sounds a bit dated, but his vocal delivery is a reminder of just how strong a vocalist Bolton could be when he is in top form. The third disc is a collection of his greatest love songs and covers not included on the first two discs. Boltheads who don't already own all three of these discs will find this to be an excellent addition to their collection at a sensible price. ~ Rob Theakston
Making women swoon with his good looks and soulful voice, Bolton was a major pop star in the 1980s and '90s, winning Grammys and selling millions of records. In the '70s, Bolton was the singer for the hard rock band Blackjack, which also featured future members of Kiss and the Pat Travers Band, but he didn't break through until going solo. His outsized pop versions of soul hits like "Dock of the Bay" scored big with boomers and youngsters alike.
