Performer: Blood, Sweat & Tears
Producer: Henry Cosby
Distributor: Bayside Record Dist.

Notes: Blood, Sweat & Tears: Bobby Colomby. Personnel: George Wadenius (vocals, guitar); Jerry Lacroix (vocals, tenor saxophone); Jerry Fischer (vocals); Bill Tillman, Tony Klatka (saxophone); Dave Bargeron (trombone, tuba); Larry Willis (keyboards); Robert Mason (synthesizer); Ron McClure (acoustic bass, electric bass); Bobby Colomby (drums, percussion); Dom Um Romao, Ralph MacDonald, Warren Smith (percussion). Arrangers: Dave Bargeron; George Wadenius; Henry Cosby. Without question, Mirror Image is the most atypical Blood, Sweat & Tears album ever. The last disc recorded before David Clayton-Thomas' return to the fold, Mirror Image features three lead vocalists (Jerry Fisher, Jerry LaCroix and George Wadenius), three saxes (LaCroix, Bill Tillman and guest artist Arnie Lawrence) and only one trumpet (Tony Klatka). The album is uneven, but still has its moments, including "Tell Me That I'm Wrong" (a minor hit), "Are You Satisfied" and its (rock) reprise, and the concluding "She's Comin' Home," where Klatka's trumpet echoes Wadenius' mournful vocal. It's no "Hi-De-Ho," but it's got some surprisingly strong material nonetheless. ~ Ross Boissoneau
As initially conceived by Al Kooper, Blood, Sweat & Tears was the first and best of the jazz-rock horn bands. Though Kooper departed after the debut album, new singer David Clayton-Thomas led the band to huge commercial success with a more pop-oriented approach. BST--in both its Kooper and Clayton-Thomas incarnations--epitomized post-'60s eclecticism, crafting Top 40 hits out of musical influences as disparate as Billie Holiday, Tim Buckley, and Erik Satie.
