Distributor: E1 Distribution (USA) Notes: If you've already bought a Cleopatra compilation with any of the words "classics," "club," or "anthems" on the cover, there's a pretty good chance you own three-fourths of this set already. Goth Industrial Club Anthems saves newbie goth-dance fans the trouble of ever having to encounter the label again by packing all the worthy club tracks they own into a three-disc, pleather-bound package. Since the label has already beaten these tunes to death by re-releasing and re-releasing them, it's easy to forget how many great tracks are here. Psychic TV's "God Star," Specimen's "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," Pigface's "Suck," and Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead" are all in the goth-dance hall of fame, and there are plenty of cult favorites, too. The abundant filler on discs one and two and nearly all of disc three brings reminders of Cleopatra at their worst. Remixes of recordings by Bow Wow Wow, Gary Numan, and Gene Loves Jezebel are only here to increase the star power and there's a scant few tracks by the best thing Cleopatra ever had going for them, Switchblade Symphony. ~ David Jeffries
