Performer: Al Sears
Distributor: Navarre Notes: Personnel: Mickey Baker (guitar); Al Sears, Budd Johnson (saxophone); Milt Hinton (upright bass); Panama Francis (drums). Tenor sax heavyweight Big Al Sears started out in Duke Ellington's band, but he made the leap from jazz to R&B at the tail end of the 1940s, and started turning out rollicking, sax-led instrumentals like the ones found here (in addition to some tracks with great guest vocals). SEARIOUSLY contains the best of the recordings Sears made from 1949 to 1956 for the Coral, RCA, Herald, and Groove labels, accompanied by such greats as Mickey Baker (of Mickey & Sylvia fame), Milt "The Judge" Hinton, and Panama Francis.
