This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. The five good lookin' guys from 'N Sync have a strong debut album filled with pop textures, danceable beats and smooth harmonies. Securing a place in the vast teen-pop marketplace, the boys deliver 13 songs that have a winning formula. "I Want You Back" proved to be a smash at radio, and "Everything I own" was produced by long-time hit makers Full Force. Some of the others tracks to take notice of are "Tearing Up My Heart" with it's strong, club-type beat and "I Drive Myself Crazy," a Babyface-ish pop tune. Though it's easy to get lost in the vastness of radio-ready pop, 'N Sync's well-produced songs and pleasant melodies will ultimately win you over.
The Backstreet Boys showed that the teenybop audience remained a lucrative market after such past teen stars as the Bay City Rollers and New Kids On The Block had long since bit the dust, so N Sync figured the more the merrier. Mining the same territory as the Backstreet Boys (both musically and visually), N Sync scaled the same commercial heights as their predecessors with a mixture of bubblegum pop and dance.
