For the hardcore collector, there are plenty of interesting items here, including previously unreleased duets with Bob Dylan, Donovan, Bill Wood, and Jeffrey Shurtleff, but for the casual fan, there's too much material; they would be better off with her original albums or single-disc compilations. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Joan Baez, one of the most influential folk singers of her generation, is possessed of an incredibly pure, clear and beautiful voice that has enabled her to sing music by a wide array of composers. Also known as a political activist, she was a very vocal opponent of America's involvement in the Vietnam War, and popularized several classic protest songs. In addition, she was instrumental in bringing several other artists to national attention, most importantly Bob Dylan, with whom she had a much written-about personal relationship.
