Producer: Mitch Peyser (Compilation) Distributor: WEA (Distributor) Notes: Liner Note Authors: John Morthland; Barry Williams. Recording information: 1970-1971. The four-disc box set Barry Williams Presents: 70s Music Explosion collects a solid cross-section of classic "Me Generation" cuts. Conceptualized around Brady Bunch alum and TV icon Barry Williams (aka Greg Brady), this kitschy and colorful set comes packaged retro-style in an old-school 7" record box. Also included is a thin booklet featuring a reminiscence by Williams as well as liner notes by music writer John Morthland. Showcased here are such well-known tracks as Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night," Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun," and 10cc's "'I'm Not in Love," as well as some lesser-known cuts including Maureen McGovern's "'The Morning After" and Jim Stafford's "Spiders and Snakes." While this is a fun set with a generous and varied track listing, the somewhat over-the-top packaging promises a bit more than it actually delivers. ~ Matt Collar The four-disc box set Barry Williams Presents: 70s Music Explosion collects a solid cross-section of classic "Me Generation" cuts.
