Notes: With sales going to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation's research and treatment of leukemia, cancer and AIDS, Between the Covers compiles covers of classic rock songs by contemporary artists including Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Tori Amos and others. Included are such stellar reworkings of tunes as the Dixie Chicks' bluegrass infused take on Stevie Nicks' "Landslide," Maxwell's soulful reimagining of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work," Sheryl Crow's catchy version of Cat Stevens' "The First Cut Is the Deepest," and even David Bowie and Mick Jagger's 1985 Live Aid reworking of the Motown classic "Dancing in the Street." While these cuts are all available elsewhere, they are generally inspired versions and it is nice to find them all collected onto one album for a worthy cause. ~ Matt Collar
