Performer: Michael Bolton
Distributor: E1 Distribution (USA) Notes: Sony's budget-priced Michael Bolton overview Collections features some of the (then) golden-maned Lothario's biggest chart hits, including "Said I Loved You...But I Lied," "When a Man Loves a Woman" and "How Am I Supposed to Love Without You." Fans looking for "Soul Provider," "How Can We Be Lovers," or the "Best of Love" will be disappointed, as the remainder of the collection tends to focus on Bolton's myriad cover songs. Listeners looking for a more comprehensive collection should pick up Columbia's Greatest Hits 1985-1995, Sony's Very Best of Michael Bolton, or Columbia/Legacy's two-disc Essential Michael Bolton. ~ James Christopher Monger
Making women swoon with his good looks and soulful voice, Bolton was a major pop star in the 1980s and '90s, winning Grammys and selling millions of records. In the '70s, Bolton was the singer for the hard rock band Blackjack, which also featured future members of Kiss and the Pat Travers Band, but he didn't break through until going solo. His outsized pop versions of soul hits like "Dock of the Bay" scored big with boomers and youngsters alike.
