Performer: Mark Knopfler
Producer: Guy Fletcher
Distributor: WEA (Distributor)

Notes: Personnel: Mark Knopfler; Emmylou Harris; Richard Bennett (guitar); Stuart Duncan (mandolin, fiddle); Guy Fletcher , Matt Rollings (keyboards); Glenn Worf (bass instrument); Danny Cummings (drums). Recorded at the Gibson Amphitheatre in California on June 28, 2006, Real Live Roadrunning features live renditions of all of the cuts from Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris' collaboration of the same name, as well as solo cuts from each and Dire Straits classics like "So Far Away" and "Romeo & Juliet." The musicianship is as flawless as expected, but there's not a whole lot to separate the tunes here from their studio sisters. The accompanying DVD is a much better example of the pair's quiet dynamic, allowing both the duo and its talented band a broader spectrum on which to emit their wry tales of love, loss, and life. ~ James Christopher Monger
Rolling Stone (p.114) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Sporting restrained vocals from both and even more tasteful guitar from Knopfler....Breezily pretty." Dirty Linen (p.45) - "Knopfler and Harris are a solid team....They both have enough stage presence and charisma not to get tangled up in theatrics....The fun is when Knopfler and Harris trade vocals..."
Although his much-heralded band, Dire Straits, didn't officially disintegrate until the 1990s, lead guitarist Mark Knopfler had enjoyed an impressively prolific solo career since he was recruited to score the 1983 film LOCAL HERO. The soundtrack's sparse and poignant melodies impressed filmgoers and directors, and an alternate career for the rocker was born. He went on to write acclaimed scores for several films, as well as making notable appearances on albums by a diverse roster of big-name artists. As a solo artist, Knopfler occasionally goes back to his singer-songwriter roots and releases the odd album, to the great pleasure of his many fans. In 2006, he released ALL THE ROADRUNNING, a lovely duet album with singer Emmylou Harris.
