Notes: The sixth mix disc of music featured in the popular Fox television series THE O.C., continues the tradition of the compilation series--which matches (and arguably betters) the hipness factor of the youth-oriented show--albeit this time with a twist. MIX 6: COVERING OUR TRACKS collects contemporary indie rock (Mates of State), British grime (Lady Sovereign), clever underground pop (Rogue Wave), atmospheric alternative (Band of Horses), and tons of other surprises into one dazzling package. The catch is that each band covers a song that's key to the show--including originals by the Killers and Spoon, and a reworking by Mates of State of Phantom Planet's O.C. theme song. This fun set works not only as a companion to the show, but as a well-selected sampler of hip contemporary sounds.
