English indie rock band the Mighty Lemon Drops formed in 1985 in Wolverhampton. Influenced by post-punk, and the darker sound of `60s psychedelia, the Mighty Lemon Drops played swirling, pop-minded music reminiscent of Echo and the Bunnymen. The chart success of the quartet's first single "Like An Angel" gave them credibility in the UK music press, as did a session with John Peel. Their debut HAPPY HEAD appeared in 1986, and was followed by a series of albums including WORLD WITHOUT END (1988) and SOUND (1991). The group disbanded in 1992.
