Producer: Vince Hans (Compilation) Distributor: Welk Notes: Probably Canada's most successful contribution to the early 1960s folk revival (and undoubtedly the main inspiration for the characters of Mitch and Mickey in Christopher Guest's loving parody, A MIGHTY WIND), Ian and Sylvia Tyson fit comfortably in the locus of folk, country, and pop. It's no surprise that the duo's signature song, "You Were On My Mind," was turned into a massive pop hit by We Five in 1964. That song, the equally iconic "Four Strong Winds," and eight other masterstrokes from the duo's 1962-67 tenure on Vanguard Records are collected on this fine anthology.
