Though she only came to international prominence at the turn of the 21st century, by which time she was 70 years old and had been performing for almost 50 years, the Cuban singer Omara Portuondo is nevertheless one of the great treasures of Latin music. This best-of collects her vocal collaborations with 17 of her contemporaries--including her longtime associate, the singer Elena Burke--recorded between 1981 and 2005 in a variety of orchestral and small-group arrangements. Highlights include the romantic "Como Es Posible," the popular bolero "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas," and the sumptuous "Por Los Caminos Del Amor."
