This 2006 outing by Jose Feliciano, his first studio record since A MEXICO CON AMOR, finds the veteran Puerto Rican pop star joined by many other Latino luminaries for a lively, flamenco-tinged collection. Among the album's many duets are "Para Decir Adios," an emotive ballad performed with Ana Gabriel, and "Oye Guitarra Mia," which features Marc Anthony.
Jose Feliciano's spirited, soulful singing and fiery bolero-flavored guitar playing appealed to traditionalists and young record-buyers in the mid 1960s, who made his version of the Doors' "Light My Fire" a big hit. In 1970, Feliciano penned "Feliz Navidad" for a Christmas album, and the song has since become a holiday classic, recorded many times over. He also wrote and performed for television and film, most notably singing the theme song to (and occasionally appearing as an actor on) the sitcom CHICO AND THE MAN. Although his mainstream popularity in the U.S. peaked in the '70s, he has maintained a large following in the Spanish-speaking community, and his albums continue to appear on the Latin music charts, and sell very well in Latin countries. Blind since birth, the singer-songwriter has served as a role model for people with physical challenges.
