Producer: Paul Ebersold; Third Day; Brown Bannister; Monroe Jones; Steve Taylor Distributor: BMG (distributor) Notes: Third Day: Mark Lee, Brad Avery (guitars); Mac Powell (acoustic guitar); Tai Anderson (bass guitar); David Carr (drums). Personnel: Steven Curtis Chapman, Bart Millard. A testament to Third Day's popularity and savvy charting ability is this second volume of the CCM band's greatest hits, featuring both studio recordings and live numbers. While the studio work captures their talent, the live tracks reflect the sheer power of their musical ministry. The sincerity and passion that come through on fan favorites such as "I Can Feel It" and "God Of Wonders" explains the vibrant response they've gotten from believers and non-believers alike.
Third Day is one of CCM's biggest crossover acts, known as much for their tuneful alt-rock craft as for their earnest faith. Formed in the mid-1990s in Georgia, Third Day started out like most indie bands, gigging relentlessly and releasing low-budget home recordings. In 1996, they signed a multi-album deal with Reunion Records, the premier Christian label, which ensured radio play and audience exposure on a much bigger scale. Tours and collaborations with acts like Newsboys and Michael W. Smith followed, helping to raise their profile even more, and by the '00s, the band were genuine CCM stars, in an offshoot genre--Alternative CCM--that they helped to create.
