Ott-Lite B2060C0 Compact Fluorescent 20 Watt Light Bulb is among a class of light bulbs that are energy efficient and consumer friendly. They use less power to deliver a high-degree of illumination and substitute for ordinary light bulbs used in most home fixtures. Compact fluorescent light bulbs are simply miniature versions of full-sized fluorescents. They screw into standard lamp sockets, and give off light that looks just like the common incandescent bulbs - not like the fluorescent lighting we associate with factories and schools. Compact fluorescent light bulbs can be applied nearly anywhere that incandescent lights are used. Energy-efficient CFLs can be used in recessed fixtures, table lamps, track lighting, ceiling fixtures and porch lights. 3-Way CFLs are also now available for lamps with 3-way settings. Dimmable Compact fluorescent light bulbs are also available for lights using a dimmer switch. Virtually all use the standard Edison-type base commonly found on most incandescent light fixtures.

According to Energy-Star, If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars. CFLs contain a small amount of mercury and should be disposed of properly, ideally recycled.
