A cell phone signal booster only functions where cellular service is already offered by your carrier.

The outside antenna is placed in the area of best signal, collects it and sends it through a cable to the pre-amplifier. The pre-amplifier boosts the signal before sending it to the amplifier. The main DB PRO amplifier boosts the signal further, and then sends the boosted signal through a cable to the inside antenna. This provides an area of improved signal that can be used by up to 15 phones or data cards simultaneously.

Wilson's cell phone signal boosters overcome the problem of dropped calls, limited range and slow data rates for cell phones and data cards by amplifying weak cellular signals. These cell signal boosters are able to pick up weak cellular signals from a cell tower and transmit them to your cellular device, and then transmit a more powerful signal back to the tower. Wilson's products are available as easy to use plug-and-play kits, or you can custom configure your own cellular repeater system for your unique application by choosing specific Wilson boosters, antennas and cellular accessories.

A typical cell phone repeater kit consists of an outside antenna, an amplifier that requires AC or DC power and an inside antenna. The inside antenna is sometimes attached to the amplifier on less powerful systems. One advantage of cellular repeaters is an increase in the cell phone's battery life due to the lower power required to broadcast the signal to the local bi-directional amplifier, due to its proximity to the phone. But, keep in mind, this system works where a weak carrier signal exists. It will not work where no carrier signal exists.
