In the wake of the emerging success of the No Limit family in 1997, Mystikal adds himself to a growing list of New Orleans-flavored hip-hop artists with his third album UNPREDICTABLE. Representing the forgotten coast of rap (the South Coast), Mystikal, with his unique rough-sounding vocals, has become one of the most recognizable MCs in the world of hip-hop. UNPREDICTABLE picks up where his last album left off, full of his distinctive brand of beats and rhymes. Elaborating on the strides Mystikal has made in one of the freshest styles in '90s hip-hop, UNPREDICTABLE is sure to stand the test of time.
The Source (12/97, p.182) - 3.5 Mics (out of 5) - "...one that allows this New Orleans rap ninja to deliver heart felt sentiments rarely heard in this hip-hop game. Backed by the mighty No Limit familia, the Desert Storm vet bounces back with a smokin' sophomore joint so hot it's bout it, bout it, bout it..."
Rap Pages (1/98, p.98) - Excellent - "UNPREDICTABLE kicks off with a 'Pac-inspired street military of killing illusionary enemies on an even more imaginary battlefield..."
One of the most successful soldiers in Master P's No Limit Army and the first Dirty South MC to garner genuine mainstream attention, Mystikal scored big with 1997's UNPREDICTABLE and '98s GHETTO FABULOUS. The rapper jumped ship from No Limit in 2000, moving to Jive Records where he topped the Billboard album charts with LET'S GET READY, thanks in part to the infectious, James Brown-inspired single "Shake Ya Ass." Despite the release of another promising album in 2001, various troubles with the law led to a career-crippling stint in prison.
