Notes: Photographer: Mark Tucker . Unknown Contributor Role: Sawyer Brown. Curb's Greatest Hits is a ten-track budget-priced collection that features some of Sawyer Brown's biggest hits, including "Step That Step," "Heart Don't Fall Now," "Betty's Bein' Bad," "The Race is On," "When Love Comes Callin'," "Used to Blue" and "Shakin'." Although this isn't a bad budget-priced disc, there are better collections available, offering more songs, more hits and better sound for not much more money. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Curb's Greatest Hits is a ten-track budget-priced collection that features some of Sawyer Brown's biggest hits, including "Step That Step," "Heart Don't Fall Now," "Betty's Bein' Bad," "The Race Is On," "When Love Comes Callin'," "Used to Blue" and "Shakin'." One of the most successful pop-country groups to emerge in the wake of Alabama, Sawyer Brown found its first taste of national success as the Grand Prize Winner of the 1983 season of Ed McMahon's televised talent show, STAR SEARCH. With a smooth, southern rock-influenced sound that set a template for many "new country" acts of the 1990s, the Nashville-based quintet's releases consistently remained near the top of the charts for two decades. Equally adept at heartache ballads and peppy dance numbers, Sawyer Brown framed lead singer Mark Miller's warm vocals with music that, while mellow, never lost sight of the group's pure country roots.
