This collection of Bob Marley remixes by some of the most respected names on the early-21st-century club scene features house, hip-hop, and trance versions of some of Marley's best-known songs. The Pistol remix of "Soul Rebel" is slow and sticky as molasses, while the similarly languid Sheep On Drugs version of "Satisfy My Soul" features upfront bass and drums."Sun Is Shining" is included in both uptempo club and slow trance versions, and Kevin Haskins's bubbling revamp of "Kaya" is held together by a crockery-rattling bass line.

Jamaican legend Bob Marley began recording in the mid-1960s when R&B-influenced vocal harmony was the order of the day in Jamaican pop. With the Wailers, he presaged every major development from rock steady to roots reggae. By combining the tension of political issues with the expansiveness of Rastafarian spirituality and some of the deepest grooves in reggae, he earned a worldwide audience. Though Marley died young, he remains an icon comparable to John Lennon, a musical and social visionary.
