Seagull Maritime Cedar Gloss Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

Maritime refers to life on or dealing with oceans, seas, and other waterways. Travel by water dominated over 2,000 years of commerce, travel, and discovery. Nights and days were long on the ships that traveled the calm and stormy waves. The lives, the stories, and the legends inspired wide ranges of folk songs, sometimes referred as Sea Shantys. Who else, then, can create a series of acoustic guitars devoted to the Sound and soul of the maritime life? Seagull's Maritime Cedar Gloss Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (29297) is a clear example of a great folk guitar to play and sing of and on land and sea. Cedar never sounded this good! The Seagull Maritime Cedar Gloss Dreadnought is an acoustic guitar made with a mahogany back and sides. The Maritime guitar's mahogany back and sides give it a more mellow sound than other tone woods. Maritime series Seagull guitars feature a unique lamination of mahogany on each side of a center layer of wild cherry. This results in a sound with slightly more highs than a typical mahogany guitar. In addition to the new compound-curve bracing system, the Maritime Cedar Gloss Guitar features a custom polished finish. The finish is about the same thickness as the Seagull semi-gloss treatment but buffed to a high luster. In this design the top is arched slightly in the area above the sound hole and levels out in the area around the bridge. The compound curve top produces excellent stability in the upper part of the guitar top and the power and projection made possible by leaving the top flat below the sound hole flat. With the weak area above the sound hole stabilized, it is possible to make the rest of the top even more active with a new bracing design that allows unprecedented control over the top vibration. The bracing for the new Seagull guitars is quarter-sawn spruce, scalloped and carved to conform exactly to the curvature of the tops.
