TDK CD-R80HSCB-50 is quite a long product designation, but very precise when broken down. "CD-R" means "CD-Recordable," the blank media used for Data copying in situations where it's okay that the Disc is not eraseable. You'd buy "CD-RW" discs if you wanted to reuse them several times. "80" means the disc can hold up to 80 minutes Audio at full CD quality, or 700MB of data. "HS" stands for "High Speed," and these discs are indeed certified for drives operating at up to 48X -- the fastest speed currently available. "CB" indicates "Cake Box," a slangy term for the spindle and lid arrangement in which this package of 50 blank discs is sold--which does, in fact, resemble a small cake box.

This media is Formatted for use in computer-based drives only, not in standalone audio component-type CD recorders. For those machines you need media labeled something like "Consumer Audio"
